That There Is One Damn Fine Coat You’re Wearing

Wait, what’s this? An update with a title that actually relates to what I’m about to say? When was the last time that happened? Oh, wait, last week
k, before that, hehe.
Anyway, Sin City came out last weekend and I went out to Dutch Square to check it out with April and some of her friends from work. Chris had mentioned something about the movie before I really knew anything about it but I’d seen the trailer for it on TV a couple weeks before release and it got my interest. Turned out it was pretty good and from what I can tell, a very faithful translation of the comics to film. I’ve been reading the comics and although I’m only through the first one (the one with Marv for those of you that have seen the movie or are familiar with the comics) and it’s pretty much a direct transfer from Frank Miller’s artwork to the screen. Very nice. I want to see it again but I think I’ll wait until it comes out on DVD. The seats at the theater were extraordinarily uncomfortable for some reason.
My quest to enjoy all the episodes of The West Wing is drawing to an end. I’ve got 5 or 6 episodes remaining in the 6th season, that ended last Wednesday. Other than those few episodes and 3 that I was unable to acquire while I was going through the series, I’m now totally versed in The West Wing. And it’s a damn fine show.
As I detailed in my post Adventures in computing, I’ve been having all sorts of malfunctions with my server. I don’t know what has possessed the stupid thing, but it now refuses to boot in under 10 minutes and to let me correctly install Windows. It decides that it wants to skip a few dozen files during the install so when it gets up and running, Windows is missing, oh, ya know, most of its functionality. That’s including the simple things like CD support, IE, and even the Luna theme. I’m at a loss for what to try next to beat this stupid thing into submission. I’ve about had it with that machine.
Fortunately, not all of my computer goings-on lately have been negative. After the server started having trouble, I bought an external hard drive enclosure from Newegg to put the 80GB music drive formerly in the server into so I could hook it up to my laptop. I previously had the music drive in the server and I just streamed my music over the network to my laptop but since the server is refusing to cooperate, I took an alternative route. Now I’ve got a nifty little silver box sitting behind my monitor with all of my tunes. Joy. Just because I can, here’s two pictures of the enclosure. Both were taken before I decided on the final position. It’s now in the same location as it is in the second picture, but it’s laying on its side so it doesn’t accidentally get knocked over. Click for larger images.
There’s three more pictures in the Adventures in computing post over at the forums if you’re interested. Those two are the best two so I saw no real reason to put all five here on the front page. And that’s pretty much all the news for now. Later on.
